As regular readers of this blog will know, I strongly believe that online community developers need to involve their members when it comes to decision making. I am currently working on a complete redesign for Community Spark, and the first step is designing a new logo.
I have ten concepts for you all to look at, and would like every reader to let me know what their favourite design is. By the weekend, I hope enough people will have replied for me to announce the new logo design. I can then get started on the actual design process for the rest of the blog.
So, without further ado – here are the concepts. Please let me know which one you prefer by leaving your opinion in the comments section.

Please pay no consideration to how the logos would work with the blog’s current design – once a logo has been chosen, Community Spark will be completely redesigned to fit with the new logo. Also, try not to pay too much attention to the colours or taglines used in these logo designs – I simply want to know what concept you prefer. Colours and taglines can be modified after the concept has been chosen.
Be sure to leave your opinions below – I want to hear what you think of these designs. Choose a favourite and you may well help determine how this blog looks in the future.

I like #6. It has the people connected together with the spark in the middle. I’m not fond of the ones with red in the logo. It’s jarring. #4 isn’t bad but I don’t care for “It begins here” as a slogan.
Michelle
I prefer #7. Like Michelle, I like the idea of people connected together, but the advantage that #7 has over #6 is that the people are a part of the spark in the former, whereas the spark is separate from them in the latter. People make communities and this, in itself, is the “spark”, no?
I like #6 – the spark connects the people, as you do.
I like the third one, though the forth one really goes well with the theme.
I have to agree. Number 6 is the best, in my opinion. I like the people holding hands, the color, and the typeface seems more bold and eyecatching. Please, let us know which one you choose.
I really like #3.
I like #2 (except for the colors) and #6. The illustrations of the people connecting is a bit too literal as a visual if you know what I mean.
I like 2,4 and 7.
I like #1
Submission 6. It conveys a certain solidity of purpose. It suggests robustness.
I like list #3.. The first time I saw it, that’s the one I liked.
I like number number 4, but truthfully I love the current design! Its the best looking blog design I have seen.
6. People like personality. 6 shows it’s a blog with personality, it also shows it’s a ‘group’ of people (a community) more than the other logo’s, the lil guys are more eye-catching.
I would go for #2, it’s less geometrical and logo-like.
I like #7 it has a nice clean and new feeling that kind of draws me in.
Definitely #2.
I’m going with 6.
10 is also good, but I’ll stick with my original choice.
100% behind #1 … why? I think the incomplete speech bubble represents and incomplete but growing community … and the colour combo is magic!
With 10 added, I think it takes my vote from #3.
Yes, I take back my vote and vote for #10. Did you make that one after all the rest?
Nice logos, I prefer the second one, maybe the last few blocks of red should be higher though, so it’s like a bar graph of statistics, rising of course ;).
To me the red-blue colour scheme looks fresher and better than the orange-blue one even though those logos look ok as well.
So I would go with #2 in the first place, maybe slightly modified, my second choice is #6, looking forward to the re-design.
Number 2 rocks! Picking up the red from the word community with the idea of growth in the community like a city skyline rising is brilliant.
2 & 7.
I like #10. It’s clean, simple, and very eye-catching. It’ll look just as at home on corporate letterhead as it will on a web page.
Hmmm.
Ok. 1 and 2 seem very ordinary. Graphic next to name does not say much to me.
3 is a bit hard to read
4 not bad
5 & 6 I think the graphic next to the name is very distracting – my eyes just get drawn to the square and the people all the time
7 & 8 I would say they are the weakest of the 10 logos
9 Quite clever one – the speech marks and the sparks between them – has potential
10 This is my favourite – its got people in it, there is a sort of spark effect and there is a bit of ‘movement’ in the graphic
Just my (crazy??) initial thoughts.I suppose they are all pretty good so you cant go too far wrong
I would vote 7 or 10 hands down
Just as an extra endorsement for 10; while looking for this site on a different computer, I had forgotten the last part of the name (I knew it was Community-something). Thinking to the logo in #10 reminded me that it was “Spark”. Obviously, it works!
Although they’re a bit more “cliche” I’d say 6 or 7.
I like #6 and #10
I like #2 … clear and bright, good colors, gives a very positive and upbeat feeling.
Thanks to everyone who submitted their thoughts and opinions. I have now chosen a logo, and it will be revealed in due course along with a site redesign
I’m all about numbers 2 and 10.
Sorry – didn’t realise I was living in the past!
Submission no 3 would be better. That is my liking one.
